The SD-008 slow motion points slave module is used to operate points that are fitted with slow motion (Tortoise) actuators. It connects directly to the central control unit (SD-001).
When the central control unit receives a command it decodes it and sends a data signal to the SD-008 slave unit which then drives the motor to change the points.
Up to four of these slave units can be connected to a central control unit.
The slow motion points slave module can switch two sets of points in response to the data sent from the central control unit. One central control unit and four slow motion points slave module can control a total of eight sets of points.
The SD-008 slow motion points slave module supplies power to give positive and reliable actuation of the points.
The slow motion points slave module requires a separate power supply of 12 - 14 V DC.
The slow motion points slave module uses two accessory decoder addresses, one for each set of points.
When a command to change a set of points is sent from the comamnd station, the central control unit receives the command via the track bus. When a command is received the central control unit decodes the command data packet to determine the accessory address and if a match is found the central control unit sends a data signal to the slave unit. The slow motion points slave unit then sends a signal to the motor and the points change position.
If an address match is not found the command is ignored and no signal is sent to the slave units and the points do not change.
